Avoid Using Click Here for Links

Avoid using 'click here' to highlight web links on web pages. This causes problems for users with a visual impairment.

Remedy: change the hyperlink text to something meaningful in the context of the page content being linked to.

  • Don't say: Click here to find out more about composting garden waste.
  • Do say: Further details are available regarding composting garden waste.

The advantage of doing this is that you can use hyperlinks in such a way that they add value but without interfering with the flow of the sentence for the reader.

Example: Many parks contain facilities such as sports pitches and childrens play areas. They range in size from less than an acre to the 48 acre site at Lily Hill Park, Bracknell.
