Explain Acronyms

Use acronyms sparingly. Remember that people may not be familiar with the acronym used.

The first instance of an acronym needs to be written in full with the acronym following in brackets. Subsequent appearances of the acronym on the same web page do not then need to be explained.

Don't say: " BFS is the Technical Services Division of the Council and part of the Corporate Services and Resources Department..."

Do say: "Bracknell Forest Services (BFS) is the Technical Services Division of the Council and part of the Corporate Services and Resources Department...."
