Bracknell Flowers 2008 Wins Regional Accolade
Judges from the Royal Horticultural Society toured Bracknell on 17 July visiting many sites including:
- Jocks Lane Recreation Ground
- Larges Lane Cemetery
- Clinton's Hill
- Lily Hill Park
- Ranelagh School
- Rainforest Walk
- Easthampstead Park Cemetery & Crematorium
- South Road Allotments
- Wroxham
- The Southern Industrial Estate
- Bracknell Town Centre
At the announcements of the 2008 Thames and Chilterns in Bloom competition Bracknell Flowers 2008 achieved the following successes:
- Winner of the Large Town/Small City - Thames & Chilterns in Bloom Silver Gilt Award.
- Highly Commended Certificate for Ranelagh School
Representatives from both Bracknell Town Council and Bracknell Forest Council attended the awards ceremony held in Milton Keynes on 3 September to receive the winners' trophy and certificates. During the announcement special mention was made of Bracknell's efforts to increase urban biodiversity on the town's roadside verges, the contribution of Bracknell & District Gardening Club and the use of recycled water from local company Boehringer Ingleheim to maintain the floral displays.
