Food Complaints
Many complaints about food are brought to our attention each year, with one of the most common types being about foreign objects in food.
These, however, do not always pose a health risk. This section contains examples of common food complaints, along with explanations and suggestions for the most suitable course of action. You can also find out more about 'useby' and 'best before' dates here.
If you want to complain about food you have bought or a food premises or business, you can use our online form. Alternatively, please contact us using the details at the right-hand side of this page.
Both the Environmental Health & Safety department and the Trading Standards department at Bracknell Forest Borough Council can carry out investigations of food complaints, with the responsible authority being determined by the type of complaint:
- If the food is mislabelled or it is a quality issue then Trading Standards enforce the law
- If food is considered a risk to health, unfit, mouldy or has a foreign object in it then it is the responsibility of the Environmental Health Department of the District Council in the area where the food was sold to investigate it
- If the food was bought within the area of Bracknell Forest Borough Council then a member of the commercial team from Environmental Health & Safety will investigate your food complaint for you
If you are unsure who the correct enforcement agency is, please contact us using the details on the right and we will ensure that the correct people receive your complaint.
