Gambling Act 2005

Under the Gambling Act 2005, the Council is responsible for issuing licences and permits for activities such as bingo, betting and provision of gaming machines. The Bracknell Forest Statement of Gambling Principles, published in December 2009, sets out the policy that the Council will generally apply when considering applications. Applicants are required to demonstrate how they will promote the three Licensing Objectives:

  • Preventing gambling from being a source of crime and disorder, being associated with crime or disorder, or being used to support crime;
  • Ensuring that gambling is conducted in a fair and open way; and
  • Protecting children and other vulnerable persons from being harmed or exploited by gambling.

The Council's Statement of Gambling Principles can be found in the Downloads section to the right.
