Pre-Drivers Education Programme
Pre-driver education aims to foster responsible attitudes to driving before or after young people have had any practical driving experience.
- One in five new drivers crash within a year of passing their test
- Young and novice drivers are most at risk in the first two years after they have passed their test
- Inexperienced drivers have more collisions than experienced drivers during the first two years of driving
- Young inexperienced drivers have the most collisions, this relates to a mixture of poor attitude and inadequate risk perception
Various presentations are offered to schools and colleges to try and raise awareness of safe driving to young adults before they become drivers. Promoting a healthy attitude to driving before they get behind the wheel and explaining the risks is vitally important if the number of young drivers that are injured on our roads is to fall.
Start Safe Pre-drive Experience in July
If you are under 17, you might like to try our pre-driver experience and earn how to be safer on the roads. There's even an opportunity to take the driver’s seat after attending our free workshops. Find out more.
