Local Countryside Access Forum (LCAF)

Group members

Are you interested in helping shape the future of your local countryside? If you are, why not become a member of the Bracknell Forest Local Countryside Access Forum (LCAF)?

What is the LCAF?

The Forum is an independent group that advises the Borough Council on the improvement of public access to countryside in Bracknell Forest for the purposes of open-air recreation and the enjoyment of the area.

Bracknell Forest Council, as the Borough Highway Authority, has a duty under section 94 of the Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000 to establish a Local Access Forum.

LCAF members with awardMembership

The forum can comprise up to 22 members who represent a broad range of interests, including landowners, Councillors, those who earn their living in the countryside, users of public rights of way and other relevant interests, such as nature conservation.

The Council is looking for people who are passionate about the countryside, promoting access for all and can contribute positively to the work of the LCAF. No formal qualifications are needed to become a member, but interested people will ideally have a broad range of knowledge, interest and experience relevant to countryside access.

To find out more about membership or to apply for a place on the forum, please contact us using the details to the right of this page.

Timetable

The Forum meets formally twice a year as well as carrying out informal site visits throughout the year.  Members are kept informed about access routes affected by diversions, by development, by capital and maintenance works and ROWIP (Rights of Way Improvement Plan projects. LCAF members also contribute to regional LAF meetings and consultations.

The next LCAF meeting is due to take place on Tuesday 27 March 2012, 7pm, Function Room, 5th Floor, Easthampstead House, Town Square, Bracknell.

The Forum meets in public and anyone is welcome to attend as a member of the public. Observers from neighbouring can LAFs also attend meetings.
