Golf course improvements
2010 has seen us embark on an improvement plan for our greens. The sand/seed injecting work has taken place twice this year and should help to improve the greens throughout the year. Although this work is ongoing into 2011, a recent independent report shows promising improvements, please see our Downshire Golf Complex Advisory Report for more details. Dress code
On the golf course we request that golf attire is worn - jeans and trainers are not permitted.
In the clubhouse and on practice facilities casual clothing is permitted however people must not be bare to the waist.
Easthampstead Juniors gain Golfmark and Clubmark Accreditation
Downshire Golf Complex is pleased to announce that Easthampstead Juniors, one of the clubs that use the Downshire as a home, has gained Golfmark and Clubmark Accreditation.
Golfmark is a national scheme that identifies and recognises junior and beginner-friendly golf facilities and is administered by the EGU/EWGA.
Clubmark is the only national cross sports quality accreditation scheme for clubs with junior sections. It is built around a set of core criteria which ensures that accredited clubs operate to a set of consistent, accepted and adopted minimum operating standards, administered by Sport England.
Benefits to parents for choosing a Golfmark/Clubmark Accredited Club are:
- Junior-friendly clubs can be easily identified, assisting parents, especially those who do not play golf.
- Reassurance that the needs of children have been thoroughly considered and addressed.
- A safe and organised environment for their children.
Easthampstead Juniors Club has approximately 60 members. They meet regularly for group tuition sessions and have monthly competitions. If you are interested in hearing more, please contact Alan Bushell or Jeff Retallic at Downshire Golf Complex.
