Cemetery and Crematorium Services

Rear of The Chapel

Cemetery

The Cemetery is situated in the grounds of Easthampstead Park, to the right of the entrance. It provides a peaceful and tranquil haven for the departed. The first three sections of the cemetery are laid out in a lawn style with flat memorial tablets and paved walkways, thus giving access at all times throughout the year, so that family and friends are able to visit during winter months.

Dividing the other sections of the cemetery is an earthen border, planted with shrubs and fragrant roses. This area supports a wooden pergola and in this section graves are marked with back to back headstones, leaving room for mechanical mowing of the grass between memorials.

BurialsA funeral courtage arrives

The cost of arranging a burial is made up of two elements; the cost of buying the piece of land or "grave" and the cost of opening the grave which is the "interment". At present graves are arranged in regular rows along the golf course perimeter hedge and are allocated when required. Graves are sold on a seventy - five year lease period and can also be purchased before the "time of need" or in "reserve". The number of interments that can take place in a purchased grave is up to a maximum of three or six if for cremated remains. It is important to note that although you have the grave rights to bury in the grave the land still remains in the ownership of Bracknell Forest Borough Council.

Memorials

Only memorials that confirm to an approved specification are allowed in the cemetery. These specifications can be obtained from the cemetery & crematorium office, funeral directors and monumental masons. Appropriate authority must be obtained before a memorial can be fixed and it is important to note that the grave owner, or their executor or personal representative will be held responsible for the future maintenance and safety of that memorial. For more information on the type of memorial (subject to approval) click on the link www.namm.org.uk a site representing monumental masons.

Crematorium

Inside The ChapelA majority of people now choose cremation and there is a great variety in the style and format of ceremonies. As well as Church of England, Roman Catholic and other Christian funerals our chapel caters for Hindu and Sikh and many more religious groups.

The Crematorium chapel can comfortably seat ninety-eight people with room for a further hundred standing. With its rich pine panelling and generous lighting, there is an atmosphere of warmth and serenity. The catafalque stands in a central chancel. At the moment of committal the voile curtains automatically close around the coffin.

For your music requirements an organ is provided and we also have a sound system to satisfy the most critical ear. We can provide any form of music as long as it is commercially available.

View Funeral Services Online

Friends and family who are unable to travel to the Easthampstead Park Cemetery and Crematorium can watch funeral services online. A digital camera fixed unobtrusively at the rear of the main chapel can broadcast services via the internet to computers across the world, which can be accessed through a secure password-protected website.

This service can benefit mourners who are unable to attend a funeral service, such as those who live in another country, or may be housebound, or are unable to travel within the UK. The service has received positive reviews from people who have watched a funeral service online.

The service costs £60, and there is unlimited access for families and friends to watch online for a week after the service. CD and DVD recordings can also be purchased if requested. The camera can see the catafalque, minister or officiant and the majority of those in the congregation.

Religious Services

A total of thirty minutes in reserved for each service and a local minister to your area would normally take the service. This is arranged by your funeral director who will ask if you require the service to take place directly at the crematorium or in your own church before you reach the crematorium. In this case the minister would carry out the "committal" service at the crematorium which lasts around ten minutes. Otherwise a full service will take place which may comprise of sermon, prayers a reading and perhaps one or two hymns. You may like to visit www.ctbi.org.uk for more information about church groups.

Non-Religious Services

An increasing number of people are now arranging more secular events where the families have greater input in the content of the funeral service. For more information visit www.humanism.org.uk who offer a personal and dignified funeral ceremony for those who have chosen to live without religion.

Ethnic Minority Services

It is our intention to offer a high standard of care and options which enables each member of the community regardless of their beliefs and culture to have a cremation service which is meaningful to them and their loved ones.

Civil Funerals

In 2002, a new funeral ceremony became available in England - the Civil Funeral.  A Civil Funeral provides the opportunity to create, with the help and support of a professional Civil Funeral Celebrant, the most appropriate and meaningful ceremony for this final act of love and respect. The celebrant works closely with the Funeral Director and maintains personal involvement with the bereaved family from the initial meeting through to creating and leading  the ceremony. A Civil Funeral can be held almost anywhere with the exception of religious buildings and churches. The ceremony is appropriate for either a cremation or burial. Please visit http://www.iocf.org.uk/ for more information and a list of qualified celebrants.
