Organising a Wedding or Civil Partnership with Bracknell Register Office

The Syrett Suite

Getting started

Your special day should be a happy, enjoyable and memorable event.

The venue for all Bracknell Register Office ceremonies is the Syrett Suite located within Easthampstead Park Conference Centre and its beautiful grounds

We can offer everything from a very simple, short ceremony in the Blue Room for up to 6 guests, to a full ceremony in the Ceremonial Room for up to 56 guests, with extra vows and readings, and everything in between. Due to the size of the room, the only enhancements possible in the Blue Room are the insertion of one reading and the standard extra vows. It is very important to us that each couple feel that they have been able to arrange the right ceremony for them, and we will do everything possible to ensure that is the case for you.

Firstly, you need to decide when and where you would like to get married or form a civil partnership. By law, the ceremony can only take place between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m, although this is subject to change after Easter 2012.

Please visit our venues page for information about the civil options within Bracknell Forest.

If the venue is within Bracknell Forest, please give us a call to book on 01344 352004 or email registrars@bracknell-forest.gov.uk. We can make the provisional booking for you, and will send you an email or letter which will guide you through the next steps.

From 1st September 2011, a non-refundable booking fee is payable at the time of the provisional booking of a Bracknell Forest ceremony to reserve your selected date and time. The booking fee amount will be deducted from the ceremony fee which is due at least 3 months prior to the date of the ceremony. If you are booking a ceremony with less than 3 months to the date of the ceremony, we require payment in full at the time of the provisional booking.

The booking fee is currently £40 for marriage and civil partnership ceremonies, and £50 for a naming or renewal of vows ceremony, which can be paid by card at the time of the booking.

If you cancel the ceremony booking the booking fee will not be returned. All cancellations must be notified in writing, and if there are less than 21 days to the date of the ceremony, a refund cannot be given.

If more than 21 day's notice is given, in writing, of a ceremony cancellation, a part refund can be made.

We are happy to take a booking however far in advance you require, although the legal preliminaries can only be started 12 months in advance.

If the ceremony is to be in a different district or religious building, you must ensure that the registrar or authorized person in the correct district is available on the required date.

When we have booked our ceremony time, what do we need to do then?

You are each required to complete the legal preliminaries for your marriage or civil partnership - your ceremony cannot take place without these. You will each need to give either a notice of marriage or civil partnership which involves a meeting with a registrar in the area where you live. Once you have both given your notices, your booking will become secured. There is a fee payable for giving notice

When do we need to pay fees?

If you wish, you may pay your fees in full when you make your ceremony booking or at any time afterwards. We do ask that fees are paid approximately six months in advance, but at least three months prior to your ceremony.

You can pay your fees by cash, cheque, debit/credit card.

What if we need to change our booking?

If you need to make any changes to the date, time or location of your ceremony after the initial booking has been taken, please call or email us with the details. Please also note that if you are changing the location of your ceremony and have already given your notice of marriage or civil partnership, you will be legally required to give a fresh notice which will state the amended venue and will have to pay the notice fee again.

What if we need to cancel our ceremony?

If you need to cancel your booking before any balance of fees has been paid, an email or letter will be required. If you have paid your fees in full, a letter or email will be required and you may be entitled to a part or full refund of the balance, depending when and where the ceremony was to take place.

The booking fee cannot be refunded. If you cancel any ceremony with less than 21 days before the date of the ceremony, a refund cannot be made.

Choosing the venue

Within Bracknell Forest, you have a choice of our register office venue, The Syrett Suite, or one of our eight approved venues.

The Syrett Suite

Set within the beautiful Victorian Mansion, Easthampstead Park, our Syrett Suite is the ideal venue for your ceremony. Accessed by a half mile long tree-lined drive, the Mansion which was built in 1864, is a listed building, sympathetically adapted to allow full disabled access.

Syrett Suite, Easthampstead ParkThe Syrett Ceremonial Room comfortably seats 56 people, but is equally suitable for a much smaller group. Decorated and furnished to blend with the magnificent Jacobean style building, the room has been finished with several silk flower arrangements, chair back arrangements and large planters with lush foliage. The room has an induction loop should any guests require this facility.

The Syrett Blue RoomShould you wish to have a smaller, more intimate ceremony, the Syrett Suite Blue Room seats up to 6 guests. Please ensure you book for the correct room. Please note that we cannot hold ceremonies in the Blue Room on Saturday afternoon, Sunday or Bank Holiday.

Both rooms have a compact disc player, which will play instrumental pieces whilst your guests assemble, and during the signing of the register.

The grounds are beautifully maintained throughout the year, and look wonderful even in winter. We have two dedicated areas, a natural grass area a very short walk from the Suite, or a hard standing area with a bench and planters which is immediately outside the Syrett Suite. The gardens are quiet and private, and make an ideal background for your photographs or video. You are very welcome to use these gardens before or after your ceremony, although we must ask you to respect other parties if necessary.

If you would like to view the rooms, please phone 01344 352004 or email registrars@bracknell-forest.gov.uk for an appointment. As we are not at the venue all the time, it is not possible for you to just call in.

We also have a number of approved venues within the Borough.
