You Said

There were concerns about the level of graffiti and the general tidiness of the Martin’s Heron & The Warren areas.

We Did

In conjunction with The Wayz Youth Centre, the Harmans Water, Martin’s Heron & The Warren Neighbourhood Action Group arranged a Neighbourhood Clean Up Day

Also on that day a Visual Audit was carried out and all Graffiti sites, including the wooden fence that follows the railway footpath were photographed and logged by marking the position.  This file was then passed to the Council Cleansing Department in readiness for removal.

Using a government asb grant of £3k Work commenced on 23rd August to remove all of the graffiti and was undertaken by a specialist company “Community Clean”.  The work was completed on 27th August 2010.  The Youth Offending Service, “Community Payback” were also involved and helped with the removal. Thankfully our neighbourhood is now relatively free of graffiti but should you spot any new sites then please inform us by telephoning our customer services line 01344 352000.

Poster Campaign

In response to the 2009 Borough wide resident’s survey, our Action Group set the three main working priorities fro 2009/2010 as follows:

In order to inform our residents of our 2010/11 priorities and to make our community more aware of the work that we do,  we staged a poster competition and asked the youngsters at The Wayz Youth Centre to design three posters, each carrying a different message reflecting one of our three main priorities:

  • Nuisance caused by vehicles (commuter parking)
  • The Environment and litter
  • Speeding motorists.

We invited the then Mayor of Bracknell Forest to come along and head up a panel of judges to select the three winning entries.

The posters are now complete and printed and we invited The Bracknell Forest Deputy Mayor Cllr Chris Turrell to present prizes to the three winning entrants at a special prize giving event.  Each winner received a £25.00 “itunes” gift card, kindly donated by The Martin’s Heron & The Warren Resident’s Association, together with a Certificate of Merit and a letter of thanks from The Action Group Chairman.

The Speeding poster has already been published and we will soon be following this up by publishing “Nuisance Vehicles”.  The “Litter” poster will be published early in the new year. Each poster reflects perfectly our main working priorities and we hope to get our messages effectively out into the community.
