Equality Impact Assessments

Equality Impact Assessments (EIA) are an essential part of our work to:

Eliminate discrimination
Promote equality of opportunity
Promote good relations between people of different backgrounds and groups

They are a legal requirement and are intended to help the Council:

Anticipate and identify the equality consequences of new or existing functions, policies or services
Take steps to change the policy or the ways in which it is implemented so that any possible negative consequences are either removed or minimised
