Current Council Performance
Bracknell Forest Council is Performing Well (rated 3 out of 4) overall and is consistently delivering above the minimum requirements as determined by the Audit Commission under the new Comprehensive Area Assessment (CAA).
The Audit Commission has concluded that:
“Overall services to the public are good with many being among the best in the country”
“The Council delivers good outcomes for most of its priority services and it continues to improve its performance in areas important to local people”
The CAA is about public accountability with the assessments combining the views of six independent inspectorates to create a single snapshot of an area. It looks at what a council and its partner organisations want to achieve on important local issues, such as crime, affordable housing, people’s health and the prospects for improvement.
The CAA consists of two elements:
- Organisational Assessment (OA) which replaces the previous Comprehensive Performance Assessment approach and focuses on how the council performs as a business; and
- Area Assessment (AA) that focuses on the work of the Bracknell Forest Partnership and how people from the public sector, business and voluntary sectors in an area are working together.
Organisational Assessment
There are two parts to the OA – Managing Performance and Use of Resources.
Bracknell Forest Council has been judged to be “Performing well” (rated 3 out of 4) for Managing Performance and “Performing Adequately” (rated 2 out of 4) for Use of Resources. The OA judges that the council provides good quality services that are important to local people.
A summary of the two assessments can be found on these pages but to find out how Bracknell Forest and its partners are tackling big local issues or to download a copy of the full assessment reports visit the Oneplace website http://oneplace.direct.gov.uk/. The website provides an independent overview of local public services. It will help people see how well their local services, including councils, police and the NHS, are serving their needs and how well these services are working together to improve an area’s quality of life.
