Council Tax

Council Tax is collected by Bracknell Forest Borough Council for its own purposes as well as those of Thames Valley Police Authority, Berkshire Fire Authority and the local town or parish council. It is not a direct payment for services and is payable whether or not those services are actually used.

Council tax is a property-based tax, with a personal element. The full tax is payable where there are two or more adults resident in a property. If there is only one adult resident a discount of 25% will apply and in some circumstances a property can be exempt from council tax altogether.

Paying your Council Tax by monthly direct debit is an easy and efficient way of spreading your payments. Please telephone 01344 352456 to make the arrangements or alternatively complete an online form – see Paying the Council Tax.

This information is intended to give an outline to council tax and is not intended as a complete guide to the law.
