Class F - Properties Left Empty by People Who Have Died
Properties left unoccupied following the death of the Council Taxpayer are exempt from Council Tax until six months after probate has been granted.
If the property remains unoccupied from the date that probate has been granted, no Council Tax will be due for up to 6 months. If the property remains empty once this initial 6 month period has passed, a 10% Discount will be granted so that Council Tax will be charged at 90% of the full charge
To apply for this exemption, please contact Revenue Services to advise us of the date of death and the name and address of the person handling the estate.
Once probate has been granted, please advise us of the date and the name and address of the person to whom ownership of the property has been passed.
